Is Dr. Jiwani a Medical Doctor?
Dr. Jiwani has a Bachelor of Science degree from UBC and completed
her other 4 years in Toronto, Ontario where she accomplished her Doctor
of Naturopathic Medicine. She is trained in the science, diagnosis and
drugs of pharmaceutical medicine. She is also trained in the art & science
of natural therapies including acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition,
dietary & lifestyle counseling, homeopathy and body work. Approximately
1500 hours of supervised clinical experience is completed before graduation.
Since 1997, Dr. Jiwani has shared her knowledge and skills with her patients,
through clinical private practice and various media participation. (See

Approach?
Dr. Jiwani uses her years of experience as a naturopathic physician
using science-based, researched natural treatments to resolve your symptoms
by addressing your causes to create individualized care with a personalized
treatment approach specific to you. During your consultation, Dr. Jiwani
listens to all of your symptoms; discusses the causes of your symptoms with
you, and how you can resolve your health concerns together.

Will My Extended Health
Plan cover Any Of The Fees?
Every company is different. Ask your human resources department
for your percentage and maximum dollar amount for coverage for visits,
testing and acupuncture, as some common things are often covered up to
your limit.
What Can Naturopathic
Medicine Do For My Condition?
Naturopathic medicine encompasses the science of diagnosis and
the art of traditional medicine. Thus, symptoms are viewed to find the
underlying cause(s), which are then rectified through the varied, gentle
therapeutic medicines or techniques. Ultimately, the goal is to improve
health, as symptoms are often indicators that the body is not functioning
optimally. Thus, treatment through supporting the body's natural healing
ability facilitates treatment and prevention of many chronic and debilitating
diseases. It is important to know that your improvement is based on your
commitment to feeling better.
Will Dr. Jiwani Work With My Own GP?
Yes, naturopathic medicine is complementary to the practice of
conventional medicine. It is optimal if you have the best of both worlds.
M.D.'s treat the debilitated and severely ill. N.D.’s treat illness
through means that naturally enhance the body's healing processes, and
teach you how to optimize health and prevent disease.
Are You a Medical Doctor as Well?
No. The term N.D. refers to Naturopathic Doctor, not Medical Doctor.
What Is Dr. Jiwani's Educational
Background?
Dr. Jiwani graduated from
the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1997. She received her
Bachelor of Science (Pre-med) majoring in Human Nutrition at the University
of British Columbia (UBC). She had been practicing full time in West Vancouver
since Oct. 1997, and opened another practice in North Surrey in May 1999,
which then moved from Delta to Fleetwood. Dr. Jiwani now works full-time
in her clinic Natural Therapeutics Health Centre Inc. Please refer to the

Is Naturopathic Medicine Regulated
in B.C.?
Yes there is a College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C. that
is self-regulated. Entrance exams must be passed to practice in B.C. and
continuing education hours are required on a yearly basis to maintain
one's license. Please be aware that you have to be a licensed and regulated
member to use the title Naturopathic Physician, or Dr._____, N.D. This
title represents naturopathic physicians with usually a pre-med bachelor’s
degree, a total of approximately 8 years of education, many hours of clinical
internship, licensing exams and continual education to maintain their
licensure, which is under constant supervision by a government-approved
regulatory body. Beware of those who claim to be doctors of natural health.
The correct terminology for a licensed regulated naturopathic doctor would
be Naturopathic Physician, Naturopathic Doctor or Dr. _________, N.D.
Dr. Tahira Jiwani has a pre-med Bachelor’s degree at University
of British Columbia, and her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the
Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, in Toronto, Ontario. She is
currently licensed and regulated by the College of Naturopathic Physicians
of British Columbia.
